This practice has been part of ancient cultures across North and South America, especially within the Mayan tradition, where it remains deeply valued for the physical and spiritual health of both men and women. Long before modern medicine arrived in our communities, the Maya healed themselves with treatments like this, trusting in the wisdom of Nature and placing life in her hands.

Description

An abdominal massage is recommended when experiencing headaches, nausea, lack of energy, or weakness after lifting heavy loads. These symptoms often indicate that one’s core power has been dispersed. To restore balance, the Maya applied abdominal massage with herbal salves to warm the abdomen. As children, when our stomachs grew cold from sitting too long, mothers would warm them with coals from the kitchen fire—a practice that continues to help women rekindle their inner strength and hold their energy.

Mayan Temazcal – Tuj + Plant Bath

The Temazcal is a dark place, the only light comes from the embers. Inside there are sacred stones that represent our grandmothers. This space recreated the womb of our mothers, where our gestation process took place. During this ceremony we intend to connect through the umbilical cord with our mother, with the divine feminine, heal and connect with the femininity, this ritual invites us to reconnect with our femininity.
